What is Petal?
Petal sells refillable, natural, zero-waste foaming hand soap and dispensers online. Their soap comes in "pads" that dissolve in water leaving no plastic waste. Their whole philosophy is about being sustainable, eco-friendly, cruelty-free and overall zero waste as best as possible.
How does it work?
It couldn't be easier: you simply pour warm water into your petal foaming soap dispenser, add one of the soap pods and shake for 60 seconds. Then you are ready to pump and wash your hands!
Is it really zero waste?
I would say: Mostly! The products themselves arrive completely plastic-free in a paper-based carton. The soap pods are stored in a lightweight aluminum box. Their soap dispensers are made out of lightweight aluminum also, but the foaming head is made out of recycled plastic. The carton it arrives in and the aluminum box are recyclable.
How does it clean and smell?
It cleans as great as regular foaming hand soap. My hands always feel clean after washing with Petal. The soap leaves a smooth feel on your hands, and doesn't dry out your hands. I tried their Lemongrass soap which smells fantastic! However, it is a more natural and rather subtle soap smell. If you are used to artificial smelling, non-natural soaps you may notice a difference in smell intensity.
Conclusion
Petal soap stands a bit at the higher-priced end, but it is decent for what you get. Overall, it is a nice cruelty-free, sustainable and vegan hand soap brand that is perfect for anyone looking for a quick 'zero-waste' solution without a lot of fuss. It is also perfect for all the foaming hand soap lovers out there!
