Ingredients

Edible "blood"

Instructions

  • Unpack 1 package of Ty Ling fortune cookies. Line a baking sheet with parchment. In a clean microwave-safe bowl, microwave ½ cup of white chocolate for 30-45 seconds. Stir until smooth and melted.
  • Dip the fortune cookie into the white chocolate, making sure the top side is completely covered and no chocolate flows into the sides. (If you are worried about the fortunes getting stuck in chocolate you can remove them with tweezers beforehand. Add them to a bowl for your guests to pick a fortune out of there instead. However, I never had issues with them being covered in chocolate.)
  • Add to the baking sheet and let sit to harden completely.

Prepare edible blood

  • Once the chocolate has hardened completely, prepare edible blood by placing jam, 3 tablespoons of filtered water, and ¼ teaspoon of vegan red gel food coloring in a small bowl. Whisk together until the jam has a thin, smooth consistency and is bright red.

Serve!

  • To serve, dip the tips of the fortune cookie in edible blood and assemble on a spooky serving platter. Store any leftover edible blood in an air-tight container in the fridge. If the cookies are part of a candy bar it is best to serve them "naked" with a bowl of edible blood to dip in. Enjoy!
