Date Syrup Recipe | easy + healthy sugar alternative

This easy date syrup recipe is the key to creating plant-based sweets rich in fiber, vitamins and minerals. This whole food plant-based sweetener is used in healthy baking and cooking. Drizzle over oatmeal, pancakes or waffles. Stir into hearty sauces, your morning coffee or tea as a replacement for table sugar, maple syrup and agave syrup (or other sweeteners). Lots of exciting uses for this WFPB staple!

  • Food Processor, or Mixer

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of medjool dates, pitted
  • 1 cup of hot water
  • ¼ lemon, pitted and peeled

Instructions

  • In a bowl combine dates and hot water. Cover and let sit for 1 to 4 hours.
  • Combine dates, with water and lemon in a food processor. Blend until smooth.
  • Add to a glass or air tight container and store in fridge. The syrup will thicken more over night.

Notes

If you need more, double or triple amount.
If syrup is too thick for what you're using it for, add some water to thin out.
Store syrup in fridge for up to 2-3 weeks.
