    🤔 What is Vegan Whipped Feta?

    It is a plant-based alternative to traditional feta cheese which contains sheep's milk. Our recipe uses store-bought vegan feta, but vegan feta can also be made from scratch. In this case, tofu, cashews, or almonds are typically used. To flavor it use lemon juice, garlic, and herbs.

    Use a blender or mixer to whip it creamy. The result is a creamy, tangy spread that's perfect for snacking or adding to your favorite dishes.

    👩🏽‍🍳 How to Make Whipped Feta

    Start by simply blending all of the ingredients together in a food processor or high-speed blender until smooth and creamy. Alternatively, whip it with an electric mixer using the whisk attachment. You may need to scrape down the sides of the blender a few times to ensure everything is well combined. Taste and adjust the seasonings as needed.

    Once your feta is creamy and fluffy and tastes as you desire store it in an air-tight container in the fridge or enjoy immediately.

    🥗 How to Use

    It can be used in a variety of ways, including:

    • As a dip for veggies and crackers
    • Use as a spread for sandwiches or wraps
    • As a topping for salads or roasted vegetables
    • As a filling for stuffed mushrooms or peppers
    • Use as a base on pasta dishes, such as our Lemon Orzo Salad with Artichokes

    📋 Flavor Variations

    Here are some topping and seasoning ideas for whipped feta. However, feel free to start getting creative with the recipe!

    Toppings:

    • Cherry tomatoes
    • Cucumber slices
    • Olives
    • Roasted red peppers
    • Fresh herbs (e.g. thyme, oregano, parsley, basil)
    • Chopped nuts (e.g. walnuts, almonds)
    • Olive oil

    Seasonings:

    • Black pepper
    • Crushed red pepper flakes
    • Za'atar spice blend
    • Lemon zest
    • Garlic powder
    • Smoked paprika

    You can mix and match these toppings and seasonings to create your own unique flavor combinations.

    Equipment

    • blender (or alternatively an electric mixer with whisk attachment)

    Ingredients
      

    • 8 oz of vegan feta cheese (alternatively use drained, firm tofu)
    • ¼ cup plain vegan yogurt (2 oz / 60g)
    • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
    • Lemon Juice and zest from 1 lemon

    Instructions
     

    • Add all of the ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth and creamy. (Alternatively, use an electric mixer with the whisk attachment) Add warm water one spoonful at a time to achieve the desired consistency if needed.
    • Transfer the whipped feta to a serving dish and use the back of a spoon to create a swirl pattern. Add toppings, fresh herbs, seasonings, and a drizzle of olive oil as desired. Enjoy!
